A Day at School

Every day holds new opportunity at a Courage School.

Here are some things you’ll come to love as…

Students

Each student has a Tailored Learning Plan (TLP) that he/she completes through a combination of self-directed learning, 1:1 mentoring, group projects, worship, tutoring, and weekly chapel.

Courage Schools run Monday to Friday while maintaining flexibility to accommodate passions and commitments outside of school.

Some students even get involved in after-school activities, internships, and field trips.

Parents

Parent involvement looks different for each family, as each family is different! Our model encourages involvement as much as parents are willing, because skills and time can be a huge blessing.

They also receive frequent communication with their child’s mentor and are actively involved in decision making around success.

Top Ideas (Ranked by Parents):

  • Help your child develop a Tailored Learning Plan (TLP) based on gifts you see in him/her
  • Teach an advanced credit out of your specific experience
  • Volunteer an hour out of your weekdays to clean or organize the classroom
  • Provide internships or shadowing in your business
  • Pick a day to lead morning worship
  • Set up a weekly check-in to encourage your child

Mentors

First and foremost, Courage School mentors are dedicated followers of Jesus who desire to lead students into a deeper relationship with Him.

Daily responsibilities vary, but they all require a personal relationship with each student and the Lord.

Mentors are given the freedom to discover what works best for their unique class, so students stay self-motivated.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Be available to answer questions and provide feedback
  • Keep students on track with their TLP
  • Tutor students (1:1)
  • Facilitate group projects
  • Assess student mastery of a subject
  • Communicate with students through the Learning Management System
  • Ensure parents stay updated
