Courage Schools Statement of Beliefs
Courage Schools—Learning Reimagined

We desire for every Courage Schools student to grow and mature in their knowledge of Christ. Our hope is that every student will remain “steadfast, immovable, and always abounding in the work of the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58) in their academic, personal, and professional lives. Therefore, the following foundational beliefs are the guiding Biblical principles of Courage Schools.

The Bible

We believe all sixty-six books of the Bible are the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God (John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21). The Bible is the ultimate authority of the Christian life in all matters of belief and conduct (2 Timothy 3:15-17).

God

We believe in one God who is the Creator of heaven and earth, the Sovereign ruler of all things, and the Sustainer of His creation (Colossians 1:16-17; Daniel 4:34-35; Psalm 135:6). God eternally exists in the three persons of the Trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; John 14:26; 1:1; Acts 5:1-4).

Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Romans 1:3-4). He is fully God and fully man (Colossians 2:9; John 1:1; 1:14). He came from heaven, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and was born of the virgin Mary (John 6:38; Matthew 1:18-21). He lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death on the cross, was bodily resurrected on the third day, and ascended into heaven to the right hand of the Father (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Corinthians 15:3-7; Acts 1:6-11; Hebrews 10:12). He will come again to complete His reign on earth and to judge the living and the dead (Revelation 19:11-16; Matthew 16:27).

Holy Spirit

We believe in the necessity of the Holy Spirit for the work of regeneration in an individual’s life by convicting them of sin and drawing them to come to the Savior (John 3:3-8, 6:63; John 16:8-11; 1 Corinthians 2:12-16). The Holy Spirit is active in every believer’s life by enabling them to live a godly life and grow in spiritual maturity (Romans 8:1-14; John 14:15-17; Galatians 5:22-24).

Humanity

We believe that God created male and female in His image (Genesis 1:26-27). From the moment of conception, a person’s life begins and is precious before the Lord (Psalm 139:13-15; Psalm 127:3). God wonderfully ordains each person as male or female and, consequently, determines their biological sex. Since the sin of Adam and Eve, all men have been born with a sinful nature and as a result are enslaved to sin and separated from God (Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3; John 8:34; Colossians 1:21). As image bearers of God, Man and Woman have inherent worth. Mankind’s worth is further demonstrated by the incarnation of Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death and resurrection so that we may receive forgiveness for our sins and be reconciled to Him (John 3:16-17). Our bodies are described as a temple for the Holy Spirit that are to be presented as a holy and living sacrifice (I Corinthians 3:16-17).

Salvation

We believe that salvation is a free gift by God’s grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ alone, irrespective of man’s works (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:23-28; John 5:24). “‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved’” (Acts 16:31). Those who are saved will experience eternal life in heaven, while those who remain lost will regrettably receive eternal condemnation (John 3:16-18; 36).

The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus is the Head (Ephesians 1:22-23). All believers from the day of Pentecost until Christ’s return comprise the universal Church and are united by Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:26-29). We also believe that the Bible teaches the importance of commitment to the local church in every believer’s life for spiritual maturity, edification, and fellowship (Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 Corinthians 12:12-27).

The Family

We believe marriage is instituted by God as the single, exclusive union between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24-25). Marriage is the sole relationship designed by God for sexual intimacy (1 Corinthians 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4). Parents are responsible for teaching their children moral values and biblical truth, and children are to honor and obey their parents (Deuteronomy 6:5-9; Ephesians 6:1-4).

Our Statement of Beliefs is not exhaustive of all Courage Schools beliefs. The Bible is the absolute authority and unchanging foundation for all tenets and behavior.
